It's that time of year! The malls are crowded, the snow is falling, and we're getting ready for the flood of holiday food to send us into a food coma until 2017 starts.

At Bananatag we're making a list and checking it twice for every internal communicator on our holiday list this year. Take a look at our top picks for the best presents for internal communicators this holiday season, from the wine lovers to the book worms.

1. Good reads for professional development:
At the top of our list is "The Art of Focused Conversation: 100 Ways to Access Group Wisdom in the Workplace." Written by Brian Stanfield, the book shows readers what can be accomplished with focused conversation -- perfect for professionals in organizational development and communication.

Although, it's impossible to pick just one book. Chuck Gose of ICology recently put together an extensive list of 17 books every communicator should read, recommended by fellow communicators.

2. Internal comms reference:
Speaking of Chuck, the Elements of IC is a must-have office poster for any internal communicator. In partnership With Alive with Ideas, the Elements of IC plays on the periodic table, minus the science. Download the table for free and get the poster as perfect reference of the building blocks of IC.

3. Take note:
Every communicator needs a pocket notebook. It's great to take along from meeting to meeting, at conferences, and in every day life. Don't forget that great idea that popped into your head on your morning commute or use the notebook to brainstorm wherever you may be. Moleskines are a tried and true classic -- this one even comes equipped with a pen.

4. Stay warm all winter:
What's especially fun about these wine-lover socks is that the funny message is on the ankle, so your (not so secret) secret is safe with you.

5. The wine lover:
Finally, a wine bottle stopper that fits in your fridge and looks snazzy.

6. Internal comms memberships:
What's not to love about a membership to established internal communications associations? IABC memberships come with a ton of benefits and events to attend to connect with your local internal communications community. Check out your local chapter and give the gift of connection this year! Another membership option is IoIC for some of our UK based communicators. Like IABC, an IoIC membership comes with a load of benefits from professional development discounts to accreditation and recognition opportunities.

7. Off duty reading:
When you're not brushing up on your comms skills and writing internal emails, communicators need a good book to sit back and relax with this holiday season. Check out Allie Brosh's #1 New York Times Bestseller "Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened". Bill Gates approved ("Funny and smart as hell."), Hyperbole and a Half combines simple illustrations and complex emotions with a lot of wit. This book is sure to make you laugh after a long day.

8. Corporate holiday cards for everyone:
As many communicators know, the holidays often means sending out corporate cards to employees in your organization. Of course, finding cards that suit this requirement is never as straightforward as it seems: cards should be neutral, inclusive, but still fun and festive. Rachel Miller of AllThingsIC shared a personal experience about this on her blog. To ease the pain, Paper Culture has a beautiful line of corporate holiday cards that any communicator friend would like to send in their organization.

9. Brush up on your IC skills:
If you live in the London area or have a fellow communicator friend who does, a Masterclass with Rachel Miller is the ideal gift. Small and intimate class sizes, a collaborative environment, and coverage of key internal communications methods, Masterclass is a gift any communicator would be happy to receive. Fun tidbit: if you're an IoIC member, you can claim 10 CPD points for attending a Masterclass.

10. Mindfulness at work:
Mindfulness is a hot topic right now and for good reason. The therapeutic technique of focusing on one's awareness can do wonders on stress levels and overall health. A Buddha Board fits perfectly on an office desk and encourages mindfulness during stressful days -- just pick up the brush and doodle away.

11. Comfy emojis:
Nothing says engagement quite like emoji pillows. We recommend the heart eyes and crying with joy pillows.

12. Greenery for your desk:
Succulents are so in right now. Favorites of hipsters and coffee shops, they might be on to something -- they're pretty, small but impactful for an office desk.
